Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “Jeep Life” decals everywhere, and I finally decided I needed to make my own. I’m not gonna lie, I wanted something unique, not just the standard stuff you see online. So I figured, why not try making a custom “Jeep Life” SVG?
Getting Started
First, I needed some design software. I didn’t want to get the work done, and went with Inkscape. It’s a free, open-source vector graphics editor.
I opened up Inkscape and just started messing around. I knew I wanted the words “Jeep Life,” obviously, and some kind of image. I googled some stuff, watched a few of my friends svg works, and got some basic ideas.

Designing My SVG
I started with the text. I picked a font that looked kinda rugged, you know, something that fit the Jeep vibe. I typed out “Jeep Life” and then played with the sizing and spacing until it looked right.
Next, the image. This is where I spent the most time. I tried a few different things:
- A simple outline of a Jeep grille. This was okay, but a bit boring.
- A tire track. This was cool, but it didn’t really scream “Jeep” to me.
- A silhouette of a Jeep going off-road. This was the winner! I found a basic silhouette online and then customized it a bit, changed up the angle, and added some details.
I arranged the text and the image, making sure everything was centered and looked balanced. I ended up putting the “Jeep Life” text above the silhouette, with a slight curve to it. It fits my car better.
Finalizing and Exporting
Once I was happy with the design, I played with a few color and finally choose a solid black. This will make my work easy to be read.
Finally, I exported the file as an SVG. Inkscape makes this super easy, you just go to “File” -> “Save As” and choose “SVG” from the dropdown menu.
And that’s it! I now have my very own, custom “Jeep Life” SVG file. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, and it was actually pretty fun. Now to figure out how to turn it into a real decal…
