Okay, so I’ve been meaning to really document the fall colors on Long Island, and this year, I finally got my act together and did it. Here’s how it went down, from start to finish.
Getting Started (and a Little Lost)
First, I had to figure out where to go. I mean, Long Island’s pretty big. I did a little poking around online, saw some general suggestions, but nothing super specific. So, I decided to just start driving, and, that can be a mistake.
I started really early in the morning, I packed some water and snacks. And I just pick a road, I think I take a Northen State Parkway at first.

Finding the Good Stuff
I ended up driving further east than I initially planned. I went off the highway, that’s a must. I start hitting some smaller roads, the kind with the big, old houses and, importantly, tons of trees.
I saw some brilliant reds and oranges, and stopped the car take some photos, record some videos.
The “Money Shot” Moment
The best spot, hands down, was this, I found a great spot with lots of different colors. The light was perfect, kind of golden and soft, because it was still pretty early.
Wrapping Up (and Feeling Accomplished)
I spent a good few hours just wandering around, taking it all in. It was a real, and nice day.
It, it just made the whole experience even better.
