Okay, here’s my blog post about making a “gold flower of life pendant,” written in the style of a casual, experienced blogger:
So, I got it into my head the other day that I wanted a new pendant. Not just any pendant, though – a “flower of life” one. And, of course, it had to be gold. I’m picky like that. I figured, “Hey, I can probably make this myself!” Famous last words, right?
First, I dusted off my old jewelry-making kit. It’s been a while. I found some gold wire – score! – and my trusty pliers. I thought I remembered how to do basic wire wrapping, but boy, was I rusty.

The “Design” Phase (aka Winging It)
I didn’t really have a solid plan. I looked at some pictures online, you know, for “inspiration.” The flower of life pattern is pretty intricate, with all those interlocking circles. I figured I’d start with one circle and build out from there. Simple, right? Ha!
- Step 1: The First Circle. I managed to bend the gold wire into a somewhat circular shape. It wasn’t perfect, but I told myself it had “character.”
- Step 2: More Circles (and More Frustration). This is where things got tricky. Getting the circles to be the same size and interlock properly was a nightmare. My fingers started to hurt, and the wire kept slipping. I might have uttered a few choice words at this point.
- Step 3: Giving Up (Temporarily). I took a break. Sometimes you just need to walk away and come back with fresh eyes. And maybe a snack.
- Step 4: A New method!. For a better circle that has the same shap, I use my ring fixer.
The “Assembly” Phase (aka Praying It Holds Together)
After my break, I came back with a slightly better attitude. I managed to wrestle the wire into something that vaguely resembled the flower of life. It wasn’t pretty, but it was… something. I used some tiny gold jump rings to connect the circles, hoping they’d hold everything together.
I added a larger jump ring at the top so I could put it on a chain. And… done! Well, sort of. It looked a bit wonky, and I was pretty sure it wouldn’t survive a strong breeze. But I had made it! And I Only wasted an intire afternoon.
I put a gold chain inside it. Now it looks good and shining around my neck.
Would I do it again? Probably not. But it was a fun (and slightly frustrating) experiment. And now I have a one-of-a-kind, slightly misshapen, gold flower of life pendant. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the imperfections are what make something special. Or at least, that’s what I’m telling myself.
