Okay, so here’s a trick I found. You can actually dump all the leftover gunk into one container and just throw that away. I know, it feels a bit weird, but it’s better than nothing. So, I grabbed an old jar and started emptying out all the liquid and creamy stuff into it. Once that was done, I cleaned out the original containers as best as I could.
Calling in the Experts
Then, I thought, “Maybe there’s a better way.” I ended up calling my local hazardous waste facility. Turns out, some of them will take your old cosmetics! I was pretty stoked about that. They gave me some guidelines on what they accepted, and I was good to go.
Recycling the Containers
- Empty Containers: I made sure all those containers were squeaky clean.
- Check the Material: Most of my stuff was in glass, plastic, or metal containers.
- Into the Bin: Once I knew they were recyclable in my area, I tossed them in the recycling bin.
It felt good to finally sort it all out. Now, instead of a pile of old makeup taking up space and bugging my conscience, I know it’s either been disposed of responsibly or recycled. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s way better than just chucking everything in the trash without a second thought.
