So, I was thinking the other day, “Where should I go for a chill beach day?” And of course, the Hamptons popped into my head. I mean, who doesn’t dream of those fancy beaches, right? But then I realized, I had no idea which beach to actually go to. So, I started digging around.
First, I grabbed my phone and started searching online. I typed in something like “best beaches in the Hamptons” and a bunch of stuff came up. I saw names like “Atlantic Avenue Beach” and “Main Beach” and thought, “Okay, those sound popular.” Then there was this “Cooper’s Beach” that someone said was the “best overall.” I started to make a list.
I drove to this place called Cooper’s Beach in Southampton. Sounded fancy. Got there, and bam! $50 for parking! For one day! I mean, the beach was nice, wide and sandy, but fifty bucks? Not sure if it was worth that.

Then, I remembered reading about less crowded spots. Someone mentioned “Shinnecock East County Park,” also in Southampton. They said it was peaceful and you could even bring your dog. That sounded more my style, so I headed over there. It was definitely quieter, which I liked. And yeah, you could see people with their dogs, which was cool.
After that, I decided to explore a bit more. I drove to this old whaling village called Sag Harbor. People said it was good for sightseeing and had some history. I found out they had some beaches, events, nature stuff, and museums. I didn’t hit the beach there, but I walked around, checked out some old buildings, and grabbed some food. It was a nice change of pace.
Oh, and about parking, I noticed most places had some crazy rules, especially for people who weren’t residents. In some places it’s like, only 3 non-resident parking permits! What?!
So, after all that, here’s what I figured out:
- Cooper’s Beach is probably great if you’ve got money to burn and don’t mind crowds.
- Shinnecock East is a good bet if you want some peace and quiet, and especially if you have a furry friend.
- Sag Harbor is cool for a day trip, even if you don’t hit the beach. You can see some history and just wander around.
- Parking in the Hamptons can be a real pain, especially if you’re not from around there.
My Recommendation
Honestly, if I went back, I’d probably skip the super popular spots and head straight for Shinnecock or just hang out in Sag Harbor. Less hassle, more chill. That’s just my two cents though. Maybe you’re into the whole glamorous Hamptons scene, and that’s cool too!
