Okay, so, I’ve lived in Chicago for, like, over 30 years. I’ve seen it all, and I’ve got some favorite spots to snap some pics. Let me tell you about the places I went to and how I did it, you know, just sharing my little adventure.
First off, I started with the Chicago Riverwalk. It’s a no-brainer, right? It’s right there along the Chicago River, and it’s pretty iconic. I walked along the path, you know, taking my time. I snapped a bunch of photos of the buildings, the water, and the people just chilling. The light was awesome that day, so the pictures turned out pretty good, I think.
- Strolled down the Riverwalk, you know, just taking it all in.
- Snapped some shots of the river, the architecture, and the general vibe.
- The light was killer, so the pics are, like, decent.
Then I headed over to see Calder’s Flamingo. This thing is huge and red, and it’s just cool. I’ve always liked this piece. It’s in this plaza surrounded by these dark, kinda serious-looking buildings, and it just pops, you know? I took pictures from a bunch of different angles, trying to get the whole thing in the shot, also finding some cool perspectives with the buildings in the background.

- Checked out the Flamingo – it’s this big, red, metal sculpture thing.
- Played around with different angles – it’s fun to see how the light hits it.
- It stands out against those dark buildings – pretty cool contrast.
You know, everyone talks about Cloud Gate, or “The Bean”, and yeah, I’ve been there, done that. It’s cool for reflections and stuff. And Buckingham Fountain is okay too, especially when the water show is on. I decided to skip them this time, though, wanted to focus on other places.
- Skipped “The Bean” this time – seen it a million times.
- Buckingham Fountain is alright, but I was feeling something different.
Winter, Though…
It’s tough. It’s super cold, and honestly, it’s not the best time for pictures. Everything’s kinda gray, and you’re freezing your butt off. But hey, if you’re bundled up and you’re into that winter wonderland look, go for it. I usually wait for warmer weather, to be honest.
- Winter is harsh, man.
- Not ideal for photos, unless you like that bleak, frozen vibe.
- I usually hibernate until spring, photo-wise.
Chicago’s got tons of places for photos. I mean, you got the lakefront, the architecture is insane, there’s good food everywhere, and the Riverwalk is just a chill place to hang out. I just wanted to share my little routine and the spots I hit up. It’s a great city to explore with your camera, no doubt. Just roamed around, snapped some pics, and enjoyed the day. It was a good one. I hope maybe you can get some good shots too.
