Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another gaming deep dive. Today we’re talking about Red Dead Redemption 2, specifically about those cool-looking bandoliers. I’ve been playing this game for a while now, and I gotta say, I’m all about that cowboy aesthetic. So, naturally, I was curious about whether those bandoliers are just for show or if they actually do something. I mean, who wouldn’t want to look like a badass while also carrying more ammo?
So, I started to dig into this. First, I jumped into the game and noticed that the catalog says bandoliers increase ammo capacity. Sounds promising, right? But then, I started seeing some mixed messages online. Some folks were saying it’s all a lie, just a way to make you spend your hard-earned in-game cash. Others were swearing that they do indeed give you more bullet space.
Confusing, huh? I decided to put it to the test myself. I saved up some money, bought a bandolier, and started paying close attention to my ammo count. I tried it on, took it off, ran around doing missions, you name it. After a good amount of playing, I compared my max ammo capacity with and without the bandolier, I realized that the ammo capacity didn’t change.
Here’s the conclusion:
- I saw that my ammo levels stayed the same, no matter what.
- Then, I found that when you shave or play minigames, the ammo disappears from the bandolier.
- Also, after some cutscenes, the ammo is gone too.
To fix the ammo disappearing issue, I discovered that equipping any shotgun and then switching back to my desired long gun worked. The ammo would magically reappear, good as new. Also, I found that bandoliers don’t have stats. It seems that the purpose of the bandolier is to simply increase certain bullet types, like repeaters and rifles. The moment you get one, the perk is unlocked.
So, there you have it. Bandoliers in Red Dead Redemption 2 are pretty much just for looks. They don’t actually increase your ammo capacity, despite what the catalog might say. It’s a bit of a bummer, but hey, at least you can still look like a total outlaw while roaming the Wild West.
My Final Thoughts
While it would’ve been cool for bandoliers to have a real impact on gameplay, I can’t say I’m too surprised. It’s all about that immersive experience, and sometimes, fashion trumps function. I’ll probably still rock a bandolier from time to time, just because they look awesome. After all, who doesn’t want to feel like a legendary gunslinger while playing this masterpiece of a game?
That’s all for today’s post. Let me know in the comments if you’ve had a different experience or if you’ve got any other Red Dead mysteries you want me to investigate. Ride on, partners!
