Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here Cancer stones, or whatever them city folks call ’em. I ain’t no fancy expert, ya know, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. But I hear tell these stones can do ya some good, especially if you’re born under that there crab sign, Cancer, they say.
Now, first off, they talk about this ruby stone. Fancy name, ain’t it? They say it’s red like a fire truck, real bright and shiny. Supposed to be for them July babies. I reckon it’s purdy, but I ain’t never held one myself. They say the best ones are this “pigeon blood” color, dark red with a bit of purple. Sounds kinda spooky to me, but hey, if it works, it works. They say it’s good for bringin’ you good luck and energy. Lord knows, I could use some of that, what with my achin’ back and all.
Then there’s this moonstone. Now that one sounds more like somethin’ I can understand. Looks kinda like the moon, all glowy and white, though I heard tell it can be other colors too, like peach and even a gray, kinda like silver. They say this moonstone is for new beginnings. Well, shoot, every day’s a new beginning when you get to be my age, ain’t it? Every time I wake up and my bones still workin’ is a new beginning! They also say this stone helps with feelings and stuff. You know, makes you less cranky, maybe. I tell ya, if it can do that, it’s worth its weight in gold, or whatever them fancy rocks are worth.

- Pearl: I almost forgot about the pearl! Them little white balls that come from oysters, I hear. They’re pretty, and I guess they’re lucky too. I remember my grandma had a pearl necklace, she always wore it to church, said it brought her peace. Maybe it’ll do the same for you Cancer folks. They say it’s one of your birthstones, so it must be special, right?
- Alexandrite: This one’s a mouthful, ain’t it? I ain’t even sure how to say it right. But it’s supposed to be another one of them Cancer stones. I heard it changes color, like magic or somethin’. Green in the daylight, red in the lamplight, they say. Sounds fancy, but I reckon it’s just another pretty rock. But if it helps ya feel better, well, that’s all that matters.
Now, they say Cancer folks are born between June 21st and July 22nd. And they got this crab as their sign. A crab! Can ya believe it? Walkin’ sideways all the time. But I guess everybody’s gotta have a sign, right? And if that crab tells ya to wear a certain stone, then I reckon you should do it. Ain’t gonna hurt nothin’, and it might just do ya some good.
And get this, they say a ladybird is lucky for Cancer people. A ladybird! Them little red bugs with the black spots. Well, I see plenty of them in my garden, so maybe I’m lucky too, even though I ain’t no Cancer. They say Cancer people like animals, and that’s true enough. My old dog, Buster, was the best companion a woman could ask for. He’s gone now, but I still miss him. Maybe them stones can help with that too, with the missin’ and the feelin’ sad. Who knows?
So, there ya have it. All I know about these Cancer stones. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, just an old woman sharin’ what she’s heard. But if you’re a Cancer, maybe you should try one of them out. Can’t hurt, might help. And if it don’t do nothin’ else, at least you’ll have a purdy rock to look at. And that ain’t so bad, is it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
In short, if you’re a Cancer, you got a few stones to choose from: ruby, moonstone, pearl, and that alexa-thingy. They all supposed to do somethin’ good, bring ya luck, make ya feel better, all that kinda stuff. And don’t forget the ladybird, them little red bugs are lucky for ya too. So, go on, find yourself a stone, and see if it works. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. But like I always say, it’s better to try somethin’ than nothin’ at all.
