That black hit, you know what I mean? It’s a big deal, this thing. Every year, in February, I heard it’s a big thing in that US place, they call it Black History Month. And in the UK, it’s in October. They say it’s ’bout rememberin’ all the things black folks done did. Ain’t that somethin’?
They got this thing, Black Lives Matter. Sounds important, you know? Makes folks listen when they ain’t been listenin’. They say it started in 2013. Heard some fella got killed, and folks got mad. They’re saying black lives are important too, yeah. They go out on the streets and yell and shout, wantin’ things to be fair for black people.
This Black History Month, it’s ’bout rememberin’ the old times, I reckon. ‘Bout how things was for black folks way back when. They say it’s important to know where ya come from, to know where ya goin’. They say it to remember those people, what they did, what they go through.
- Black people, they want things to be fair.
- They want the police to treat ’em right.
- They want the same chances as everyone else.
- They want the money to be shared out right.
That Black Lives Matter, they talk ’bout how the police, sometimes they ain’t so nice to black folks. They want that to stop. They want everyone to be treated the same, no matter the color of their skin. They say things are very unfair for black people, and it keeps them poor.
It ain’t easy, you know? Life ain’t easy for nobody, but it seems extra hard for them black folks. They gotta fight for everything they get. They say there’s something wrong with the way things are set up. Like a game where the other fella always gets to go first, always gets the best cards. I heard, they said many people don’t support Black Lives Matter anymore.
This February, it is Black History Month again, heard on the radio. They talkin’ ’bout some fella named Woodson. They say he started this whole thing, way back when. They said he lived a long time ago, from 1875 to 1950. Seems like he wanted folks to remember the good things black people done did. He wanted people to know their history, I guess. That’s good.
I hear folks arguin’ ’bout this Black History Month. Some say it’s good, some say it ain’t. Some say it makes things worse, separatin’ folks by color. Others say it’s important to remember the stories that ain’t been told. This Black History Month is a time to remember those untold stories, I think. They need to be heard.
They say black folks ain’t got as much money as white folks. They say it’s been that way for a long, long time. And that makes it hard for ’em to get ahead. It’s like tryin’ to climb a mountain with no shoes on. They just keep slippin’ back down. They say it’s a “vicious cycle”. They said this is why this Black History Month is important.
They want things to be better for their kids, and their kids’ kids. They want ’em to have a fair shot at life, same as everybody else. This Black Lives Matter, it seems like a good thing. Tryin’ to make things better, tryin’ to make things fair. It is all about Black History Month. They want to remember where they came from and make a better future.
They march in the streets, they hold up signs, they make a lot of noise. They want folks to listen. They’re saying Black Lives Matter. They’re sayin’ it loud and clear. They want the police to treat them right, they want the laws to be fair, they want everyone to have the same chances. They are making a big hit, a black hit.
This whole Black History Month thing, it’s ’bout respect, I reckon. ‘Bout treatin’ folks right, no matter what color they are. It’s about rememberin’ the past, and tryin’ to make a better future. It ain’t easy, but it’s important. I guess that’s all they’re askin’ for. Just a little bit of fairness. Just a little bit of respect. I hope they get it. They deserve it.
