Well now, let’s talk about them things to do in LA when it’s wintertime, you know, when it gets a little chilly, not too cold mind you, but chilly enough.
First off, you gotta know, LA ain’t like them places where it snows up to your eyeballs. Naw, we got sunshine mostly, even in winter. But it can get a bit nippy, especially at night, so you might wanna bring a sweater, a light one, not one of them big bulky ones like them Eskimos wear.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for things to do, there’s plenty, let me tell ya. You can go walkin’ around, seein’ the sights. They got this place, Hollywood, you heard of it? Yeah, that’s right, where all them movie stars hang out. You can go walk on the Walk of Fame, see all them stars on the ground, ain’t that somethin’? Just don’t expect to see no real stars, they’re mostly at home, drinkin’ tea or somethin’.

And speakin’ of stars, there’s this thing called Astra Lumina, they put it on in winter. It’s all lit up, pretty lights and all that. Kids love it, and I gotta say, it’s kinda purdy. You can walk around, take some pictures, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
If you’re the type that likes to move around, you can go hikkin’. Yeah, hikkin’ in the winter! We got mountains here, you know, not them big ol’ rocky ones like in Colorado, but hills, nice hills. You can go up there, get some fresh air, see the whole city laid out before ya. Just bring some water, and maybe a snack, you don’t wanna get all tuckered out.
- Griffith Observatory: Go up there, see the city lights, it’s a sight to behold, I tell ya.
- Santa Monica Pier: They got that Ferris wheel, you know, the big round thing that goes up in the air. Kids love it, and even old folks like me can enjoy it, just don’t eat too much cotton candy before you go up.
- The Getty Center: This place is fancy, real fancy. Got all kinds of art, paintin’s and stuff. If you’re into that kinda thing, it’s worth a look. And the gardens are somethin’ else, all green and pretty, even in winter.
Now, some folks like to go shoppin’ when they’re on vacation. LA’s got plenty of places to do that. You got them fancy stores on Rodeo Drive, if you got money to burn. And you got them regular stores too, where you can get a good deal on a pair of socks or somethin’. Me, I like to go to the farmers market, get some fresh fruits and vegetables. They taste better than that stuff they sell in the supermarkets, let me tell ya.
And if it does happen to rain, don’t you worry none. There’s still plenty to do indoors. You can go to a museum, see some dinosaur bones or somethin’. Or you can go to a movie, they got them big fancy movie theaters here, with seats that recline and all that. Just don’t fall asleep during the movie, it ain’t polite.
Now, some folks say LA ain’t got no winter sports, but that ain’t entirely true. We got these indoor ice rink places, you know, where you can go ice skatin’. It ain’t the same as skatin’ on a frozen lake, but it’s fun. Just watch out for them little kids, they zip around like little speed demons, they’ll knock you right over if you ain’t careful. And if you’re real serious about skatin’ or snowboardin’, you can drive a bit and find some ski resorts not too far away. Nothin’ like them big places up north, but good enough for a day trip.
And let’s not forget the food. LA’s got all kinds of food, from all over the world. You can get Mexican food, Chinese food, Italian food, whatever your heart desires. Me, I like a good ol’ burger and fries, can’t go wrong with that. But if you’re feelin’ adventurous, try somethin’ new, you might just like it. Just make sure it ain’t too spicy, unless you like your mouth on fire.
So, there you have it, some things to do in LA in the winter. It ain’t as cold as some places, but it’s still winter, so dress warm, have fun, and don’t forget to send me a postcard, ya hear? And remember, if you’re lookin’ to book tours or somethin’, do it online, it’s easier than tryin’ to flag down a taxi in this city. You can find all sorts of deals and tickets right on your phone, ain’t that somethin’? Just make sure you read the fine print, you don’t wanna get stuck with somethin’ you don’t want. And always compare prices, you know, shop around a little, get the best bang for your buck.

And one more thing, this city, it’s got good weather year-round, but winter, that’s when we get a little bit of rain. So, bring an umbrella, just in case. February, that’s the wettest month they say, but even then, it ain’t nothin’ like them storms they get back east. Just a little drizzle mostly. Temperatures? Well, they might drop down to, what was it, thirty-nine degrees they said? That’s chilly, but it don’t last long. The sun always comes out again, sooner or later. So don’t let a little rain scare you off, there’s still plenty to see and do.
So come on down to LA, even in the winter. You won’t regret it. It’s a good place to visit, any time of year, but winter, it’s got its own kinda charm. You just gotta know where to look, and what to do. And now you do, so go on, have yourself a good time. And if you see a movie star, tell ’em I said hello!
