Okay, so yesterday, I finally checked out that Split Rock Swimming Hole I’d been hearing so much about. Let me tell you, it was an adventure, start to finish!
First, I packed everything I thought I’d need: my swimsuit, obviously, a towel, sunscreen (gotta protect that skin!), some snacks, and plenty of water. It’s supposed to be super hot, so staying hydrated is key.
Next, I hopped in my car and punched the location into my GPS. The drive was a little longer than I expected, with some winding roads that made me glad I had a decent vehicle. I even got a little lost! But hey it’s part of the adventure, am I right?

Finding the Spot
Finding the actual parking area was a bit of a challenge. It’s not super well-marked, so I drove past it at first. After I turned around and found the area, I parked my car.
Then came the hike! I was not expecting, It was a bit of a trek down to the water, with some rocky parts and uneven terrain. I was definitely glad I wore my hiking boots instead of flip-flops.
The Swimming Hole
But man, when I finally got there, it was worth it. This place is gorgeous! Crystal-clear water, surrounded by these massive rocks. I spent a good few minutes just taking it all in.
Of course, I immediately jumped in. The water was so refreshing, especially after that hike.
- It was perfect.
- Not too cold, not too warm.
- Just right for a hot day.
- The vibe of this place is just magic.
I spent the rest of the afternoon swimming, sunbathing on the rocks, and just generally enjoying the peace and quiet. I even saw some people cliff jumping, which looked terrifying but also kind of awesome. I’m not quite brave enough for that yet, though!
Finally, as the sun started to set, I packed up my stuff and hiked back up to the car. It was a bit tougher going uphill, but I was still buzzing from the day, so it didn’t feel too bad.
Overall, it was an amazing day. Split Rock Swimming Hole totally lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for a beautiful, secluded spot to cool off and connect with nature, this is definitely it. Just be prepared for a bit of a hike and maybe bring a friend!
