Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get a new flashlight for a while. My old one was, well, old. And dim. And kinda unreliable. So, I finally decided to grab a “life gear flashlight” I saw online. Nothing fancy, just something practical, you know?
The Unboxing
It arrived pretty quick. Standard cardboard box, nothing to write home about. Inside, the flashlight was wrapped in bubble wrap. I hate those little plastic air bags they sometimes use, so I was happy about the bubble wrap. It’s also way more fun when you’re done.
First Impressions
The flashlight itself felt… decent. Not super heavy, but not flimsy plastic either. It’s got this rubberized grip, which is nice. I popped in some batteries (it takes AAAs, I think – yup, three of them).

Testing it Out
- Click one: Bright white light! Way better than my old one. I could actually see stuff in the dark corners of my garage.
- Click two: Red light. I guess this is for… night vision? Or emergencies? I dunno, seemed cool.
- Click three: Red flasher. Definitely for emergencies. Like, if your car breaks down on the side of the road.
- Click four: Off. Thank goodness, that flashing was giving me a headache.
Putting it Through Its Paces
I took it outside that night. It lit up the backyard pretty well. I even used it to find my cat, Mittens, who likes to hide under the bushes. Success!
I also kept it by my bedside. You know, just in case the power goes out. The red light is less jarring when your eyes are used to the dark.
The built in whistle is not very loud.
Final Thoughts (So Far)
Honestly, it’s a flashlight. It works. It’s brighter than my old one. It has a few different modes. It wasn’t expensive. I’m happy with it. It is in the drawer now, but I think that is a good place for a flashlight.
I’m not gonna go climb Mount Everest with it or anything, but for everyday stuff? Yeah, it’s good.
