Okay, so the other day, my partner and I were sitting around, bored out of our minds. We were like, “We need a hobby, and fast!” So, we started brainstorming. We tossed around a few ideas, you know, the usual stuff.
The First Try: Cooking Classes
First, we decided to try cooking classes. We booked a couple’s class focused on Italian food. Sounded romantic, right?
- We showed up, all excited.
- We put on our aprons and got to work.
- Turns out, I’m a disaster in the kitchen. I nearly set the place on fire trying to flambé something.
My partner, bless their heart, was way better. But even though they were a natural, it just wasn’t clicking for us as a “couple” thing. It felt more like a competition, and I was definitely losing.

The Second Attempt: Hiking
Next, we thought, “Let’s get outdoorsy!” We live near some awesome trails, so hiking seemed perfect.
- We bought some decent hiking boots.
- We packed snacks and water.
- We hit the trail early one Saturday.
The scenery was beautiful, no doubt. But, we quickly realized we have very different hiking paces. I like to stroll and take pictures of every single flower. My partner is more of a “power through” kind of hiker. We spent most of the time either waiting for each other or feeling rushed. Not exactly the bonding experience we were hoping for.
The Winner: Board Games!
Feeling a bit defeated, we were about to give up. Then, we stumbled upon a board game café in our neighborhood. We decided to give it a shot.
- We walked in, and it was like a whole new world.
- We picked out a cooperative game, something called “Pandemic.”
- We sat down, learned the rules, and started playing.
And boom! We found our thing. We were working together, strategizing, laughing, and actually having fun! We even won the game, which felt amazing. We’ve gone back several times since, and we’re even building our own little board game collection at home. It’s perfect – we get to spend quality time together, challenge ourselves, and there’s zero chance of me burning anything down.
So, yeah, that’s how we found our perfect couple hobby. It took a little trial and error, but we finally landed on something we both genuinely enjoy. It is really a perfect match for us!
