Okay, so I wanted to freshen up my style for spring, and I thought, “Why not start with my purse?” I figured a new color could really make a difference. So, I started looking into what’s supposed to be trendy this spring.
First, I browsed some fashion blogs and Instagram accounts. I just wanted to get a general feel for what colors people are excited about. I saw a lot of pastels, which makes sense for spring, right? Soft pinks, light blues, lavenders… you get the idea.
Then, I checked out some online stores. I didn’t want to buy anything just yet, but I wanted to see what colors were being offered in actual purses. I noticed a good mix of those pastels, but also some bolder colors, like bright yellows and greens. It was kind of overwhelming, to be honest!

After that, I thought about my own wardrobe. I mean, what’s the point of a new purse if it doesn’t go with anything I own? I have a lot of neutral-colored clothes – whites, blacks, grays – so I figured I could probably go with pretty much any color. But I also have some floral dresses and skirts that I love to wear in the spring, so I needed to keep those in mind.
So, I decided to make a list. Yep, an actual, physical list. On one side, I put down the colors I liked from the blogs and stores – the pastels and the brights. On the other side, I listed the main colors in my spring wardrobe.
My Little List
- Possible Purse Colors: Light Pink, Lavender, Baby Blue, Bright Yellow, Kelly Green
- My Wardrobe Colors: White, Black, Gray, Floral Prints (with pinks, blues, yellows)
After staring at my list for a while, I started to narrow things down. I ruled out the bright yellow – it just seemed a little too “out there” for me. I also crossed off the baby blue, thinking it might clash with some of the floral prints.
Finally, I settled on either light pink or lavender. They both seemed like they would work well with my wardrobe, and they both felt very “spring-like.” I ended up flipping a coin, I picked a light pink.
I went back to the online stores and found a cute crossbody bag in a pale pink shade. It wasn’t too expensive, and it looked like it would be big enough to hold all my stuff. So, I ordered it! And I can’t finish waiting.
