Okay, so Sunday in New York City, right? I’ve been there, done that, got the slightly-overpriced-but-totally-worth-it t-shirt. Here’s how my perfect NYC Sunday went down, from start to finish.
The Early Bird Gets the… Bagel?
First, I woke up early. Like, early early. I am not usually an “early” person, but you gotta beat the crowds in this city. My mission? Bagels. Specifically, a ridiculously good everything bagel with scallion cream cheese from a little place I found online in the East Village.
I jumped on the subway – way less packed at 7 AM, I can tell you – and navigated my way downtown. The city’s still kinda sleepy at that hour, which is a nice change of pace.

I found the bagel shop, no line (score!), and ordered my prize. Let me tell you, this was not your average, sad-looking grocery store bagel. This thing was loaded. Warm, chewy, perfect.
Park Life and People-Watching
Next, with my bagel bounty in hand, I headed to Washington Square Park. I love that park. It’s always buzzing with activity – street performers, students, chess players, you name it.
I found a bench, sat down, and just soaked it all in. Ate my bagel (slowly, savoring every bite), watched the world go by. Seriously, the people-watching in that park is top-notch. You see all sorts of characters.
Museum Hopping (or Not)
After the park, you’ve got options. I’m a museum person, so I decided to check one, The Met. The city’s full of them, of course – you could hit up the MoMA, the Natural History Museum, the Guggenheim, whatever floats your boat. And even if you are not a museum person, it’s a nice experience.
I spent a couple of hours wandering around, I checked out all the different types of arts. It’s huge, so you kinda have to pick and choose what you want to see, or you’ll be there all day (which, honestly, isn’t a bad way to spend a Sunday).
A Little Bit of Greenery
After the museum,I walked to the Central Park and I grabed a ice cream on my way there.
Then I just spent a few hours in the park, and I found a quiet place to sit and read a book I had brought.

Dinner and Done
Finally, as the day wound down, I grabbed some dinner. I wasn’t feeling anything fancy, so I just found a little pizza place in the West Village and got a couple of slices. Perfect end to a perfect day.
I went back to hotel, and had a good rest.
So, that was my Sunday. Yours might look different – maybe you’d swap the museums for a Broadway matinee, or the pizza for a fancy rooftop brunch. But that’s the beauty of New York, right? There’s something for everyone. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be doing a lot of walking!
