Okay, so I’ve been seeing this trend of capri leggings with boots everywhere lately, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I wasn’t totally sure about it at first, but I’m always up for trying new things, you know?
First things first, I rummaged through my closet to find the right pair of capri leggings. I opted for a basic black pair – figured that would be the easiest to style. Then came the boots. This was the tricky part. I have, like, a million pairs of boots (slight exaggeration, but still…).
The Great Boot Debate
- Ankle boots? Seemed like the obvious choice, but I was worried it might look a little…stumpy?
- Knee-high boots? Felt like that might defeat the purpose of the capris – like, why not just wear full-length leggings at that point?
- Mid-calf boots? This is where I started to get intrigued.
I tried on a bunch of different combinations. I paired the capris with some chunky-heeled ankle boots – nope, didn’t like the proportions. Then I squeezed into my knee-high riding boots – definitely a no-go. It just looked…wrong. Finally, I pulled on a pair of slouchy, mid-calf suede boots. And…I think I liked it!

The key, I realized, was to find boots that weren’t too tight around the calf. The slouchy style gave it a more relaxed, casual vibe. I also made sure the top of the boots hit just below where the leggings ended, leaving a little bit of skin showing. That seemed to balance things out.
To complete the look, I threw on a long, flowy tunic top and a chunky knit scarf. It felt very “fall,” even though it’s still technically summer. I even added a wide belt to cinch in the waist a bit.
I wore this outfit to run errands, and I actually got a few compliments! I was pleasantly surprised. I think I’ll definitely be rocking this capri-leggings-with-boots combo again. It’s comfy, it’s stylish (at least, I think so!), and it’s a fun way to switch things up from my usual jeans-and-a-tee uniform. My final thought, practice make it perfect, It took me time to get the look that can catch eyes!
