Okay, so the other day I was in the mood for a good old cheerleading movie, you know, something fun and peppy. Of course, “Bring It On” immediately popped into my head, but I’ve seen it a million times. So, I wanted to find something similar. Here’s how I went about it:
Figuring Out What Makes “Bring It On” So Great
First, I thought about why I love “Bring It On.” It’s not just the cheerleading, right? It’s the:
- Rivalry: The competition between the Toros and the Clovers is intense!
- Humor: The movie is genuinely funny, with some great one-liners.
- Coming-of-age: It’s about growing up, learning responsibility, and figuring out who you are.
- High-energy routines: The cheerleading itself is awesome to watch.
I needed a movie that captured that same vibe.

The Search Begins!
I grabbed my laptop and started with some simple Google searches. I literally typed in things like “movies like Bring It On” and “best cheerleading movies.” I know, super original.
This gave me a bunch of lists, and I started going through them. Some of the titles that popped up were:
- “Sugar & Spice”
- “Fired Up!”
- “But I’m a Cheerleader”
- “Gotta Kick It Up!”
Digging Deeper
I didn’t just want to pick a movie at random. I wanted to make sure it was actually good. So, for each movie, I did a few things:
- Read some reviews:I ususally checked summaries to see what people thought.
- Looked at the cast: Sometimes seeing a familiar face can be a good sign.
This helped me narrow it down a bit. For example, “But I’m a Cheerleader,” while it has cheerleading, is more of a satire and has a very different tone than “Bring It On.”
Making a Choice(and another choice…)
Based on my little research project, “Fired Up!” seemed like the closest match. It’s about two guys who join a cheerleading camp to meet girls, so it definitely has the humor and the cheerleading aspect. It is pretty funny, I will give them * it didn’t feel like Bring it on.
Then I saw “Gotta Kick It up!” focused on a dance * is a scene that they practice dancing battle, that reminded me a little bit of the cheerleading competition, that gives the movie a similar vibe.
My Verdict
I ended up watching “Gotta Kick It Up!”,And it was pretty good. It is not exactly like “Bring It On” but it is great too! It’s got the humor, the high-energy routines.
