Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post about making a “grandma life shirt”, written in the style you requested:
So, I decided I wanted to make one of those “Grandma Life” shirts. You know, the ones with cute sayings and maybe some grandkids’ names? I figured, why not? I can do that! I have a heat press I got from a black friday, and my bestie have a cutting machine.
Getting Started
First things first, I brainstormed some ideas. I’m no artist, so I kept it simple. I wanted something that would be super simple to use, to cut and print and be easy for grandma to wear. Plain and simple, nothing too crazy.

The Design Process
I decided for the simple “Grandma Life is the Best Life”. I thought about adding hearts or flowers, but then I was like, “Nah, keep it clean.”I’m just starting my crafting journey. My bestie is doing all the cutting machine work for me. She said she can teach me, I should start with simple design, like, really basic stuff.
Cutting and Weeding
My friend offered to help, so she loaded up the design, she use the machine to cut it. And she used a bright pink vinyl – because, why not? Gotta go bold, right?
- Load up my design
- Use the machine to cut it.
- Pick up the perfect color.
Then came the weeding…oh, the weeding. This part is kind of a pain, but also weirdly satisfying? You gotta pick out all the little extra bits of vinyl that you don’t want on the shirt. It took a while, but I got the hang of it. A tiny hook tool is my new best friend.
Pressing Time!
Okay, NOW for the fun part. I preheated my heat press, I have watched some tutorials on how to use it before. I centered the design on the shirt (plain white, classic), put a teflon sheet over it, and pressed it down. I held it for like, I don’t know, the instructions said 15 seconds? It felt like forever! I did not want to burn the vinyl, I really wish I did not screw it up.
Then, I peeled off the carrier sheet…and BAM! There it was. My very own Grandma Life shirt. It actually looked pretty good! I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty proud of myself.
The Final Result
The letters were stuck on there good, the edges were clean, and the color was popping. Success! I even washed it (inside out, cold water, gentle cycle) and it held up perfectly. Would I pay for the one I just made? Sure! I really do think I am getting good at this stuff. Now I’m just waiting for my grandma to visit and give her this shirt!
So, yeah, that’s my little crafting adventure. It wasn’t perfect, but I learned a lot, and I ended up with a shirt that I’m actually excited to wear. If I can do it, anyone can. Seriously.
