Alright, so I’ve been messing around with ways to keep my dog busy while I’m at work. You know, gotta make sure the little guy doesn’t get bored and start chewing up the furniture or something. So here’s what I did.
Tried Some Interactive Toys
First off, I grabbed a couple of those interactive toys. You know, the ones where you can stuff treats inside and the dog has to figure out how to get them out. Seemed like a good idea at first.
- Stuffed a Kong: I stuffed a Kong with some peanut butter and treats. My dog loves peanut butter, so I thought this would keep him busy for hours.
- Got a puzzle toy: I also picked up one of those puzzle toys where they have to slide things around to get to the treats. Figured it would challenge him a bit.
Set Up a Comfy Spot
Next, I made sure he had a comfy spot to chill out while I was gone. Dogs like to have their own little den, right?

- Cozy bed: Made sure his bed was all nice and comfy, with a couple of his favorite blankets.
- Safe space: I set it up in a corner of the living room where he usually likes to hang out. Somewhere he feels safe and secure.
Left the TV or Radio On
I’d heard that leaving the TV or radio on can help, something about background noise making them feel less alone. Worth a shot.
- Tried the TV: I left the TV on to some nature show. Figured the sounds of birds and stuff might be soothing.
- Radio tunes: Also tried leaving the radio on to a classical music station. Not sure if he’s into Beethoven, but hey, it’s something.
The Verdict?
So, how did it all go? Well, it was a bit of a mixed bag, to be honest.
- Kong was a hit: The Kong with the peanut butter was definitely a winner. Kept him occupied for a good while.
- Puzzle toy, not so much: The puzzle toy, not so much. He seemed to get frustrated with it pretty quickly and just gave up.
- TV and radio: The TV and radio seemed to help a little. He was definitely calmer when there was some background noise.
All in all, I’d say it was worth trying out these things. The Kong was the clear winner, and I’ll definitely be using that again. The other stuff, well, it might work for some dogs, but mine wasn’t too impressed. Still, it’s all about finding what works for your own pup, right? Gotta keep experimenting until you find the perfect combo to keep them entertained while you’re out there making a living.
