Okay, so I was scrolling through my social media feeds the other day, right? And I just kept seeing all these people trying to be, like, the next big influencer or YouTube star. It got me thinking, is this whole “everyone’s an entertainer” thing really a good idea? I mean, I love a good cat video as much as the next guy, but it felt like something was off. So, I decided to dig a little deeper and see what this whole trend is all about.
First thing I did was hit up Google. I typed in something like “why is everyone trying to be famous online” and, boy, did I get a ton of results. Articles, opinion pieces, you name it. I started clicking through them, trying to get a sense of what people were saying. And you know what I found? A lot of folks are actually pretty worried about this whole thing.
One article talked about how social media is making us all obsessed with getting likes and followers. It’s like, we’re all competing for attention, and it’s making us feel kinda bad about ourselves if we don’t get enough. Another one mentioned how this whole “influencer” thing is actually a lot of work. People are spending hours creating content, editing videos, and trying to build an audience. And for what? A few free products or a little bit of ad revenue? It didn’t seem worth it to me.

Then I started thinking about my own experiences. I’ve tried posting some videos online before, just for fun. And honestly, it was kind of stressful! I found myself checking my phone all the time to see if anyone had watched or commented. It was like, I was addicted to the validation. And that’s when it hit me. This whole “everyone’s an entertainer” thing might not be so great for our mental health.
Here’s why I think it’s a problem:
- It’s making us compare ourselves to others. We see all these “perfect” lives online and we start to feel like our own lives are boring or inadequate.
- It’s taking up a lot of our time. Instead of doing things we actually enjoy, we’re spending hours trying to create content that will get us noticed.
- It’s creating a culture of superficiality. We’re more focused on how we look and how many followers we have than on, you know, actually being good people.
- It’s a lot of work for little reward. Most people who try to make it big online don’t actually end up being successful. So, is it really worth all the effort?
So, after all this digging and thinking, I came to a conclusion. It’s probably not a good idea for everyone to try to be an entertainer. It’s okay to share things online and have fun with it, but we shouldn’t let it take over our lives. There are many things out there worth doing. Being famous online is definitely not the only option, maybe not even a good one. We should focus on living our own lives, doing things we love, and being happy with who we are, not who we appear to be online. Don’t get me wrong. If that’s your dream, go for it. But for most people, including me, there are probably better things to do with your life.
That’s my take on this whole thing. I just had to share my thoughts and see if anyone else felt the same way. It’s kind of rough out there in the social media world, you know? So, I decided to share it here and let you know.
