Okay, so, I finally got around to checking out Laketown Beach near Holland. I had heard about it from some friends and saw some pictures online, so I was like, “Why not?” Plus, it’s right by Lake Michigan, which is always a good time, right?
Getting There
First off, I drove there, which was pretty easy. Finding the place was no problem. I just followed my GPS, and boom, there it was. It’s a bit outside of Holland, but not too far.
The Big Climb
Once I got there, the real fun began. There’s this huge sand dune you gotta climb to get to the beach. And let me tell you, it’s a workout! I heard someone say there are like 180 steps or something, and some of them are kinda covered in sand. So, yeah, I started my ascent. It felt like it took forever. I stopped to catch my breath a few times, I won’t lie.

Beach Time
But man, when I finally made it to the top, the view was totally worth it. You can see the whole lake stretching out forever. I walked down to the beach itself. It’s not a huge public beach area, but there’s enough space. And, you can just walk along the shore as far as you want, really.
Sand Dune Fun
After hanging out on the beach for a bit, I decided to explore the dunes some more. I walked around, climbed up some smaller ones. It’s pretty cool just wandering around up there. It felt like being in a desert, except with a giant lake right there!
Heading Back
Eventually, I decided it was time to head back. I walked back up to the big dune, and let me tell you, going down those steps was almost as tricky as going up. You gotta watch your step! But I made it back to my car in one piece.
Overall Thoughts
All in all, I’d say Laketown Beach is definitely worth checking out. Just be ready for that climb. It’s a good workout, and the views are amazing. It’s a nice, quiet spot to just relax and enjoy the lake. Plus, exploring the dunes is a blast. I’d definitely go back again.
