Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with concealers lately, trying to figure out how to use this IT Cosmetics concealer I picked up. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but I think I’ve got some stuff figured out that I can share.
First off, I started by prepping my skin. You know, the usual cleanse, moisturize routine. I made sure my under-eye area was nice and hydrated. This concealer is pretty thick, so I didn’t want it settling into any dry patches and looking cakey.
- Cleanse: Get rid of the dirt and grime.
- Moisturize: Hydrate the skin, especially the under-eye area.
Then, I grabbed my concealer. Now, I’ve used a bunch of different ones before, like that Maybelline Age Rewind and the Tarte Shape Tape. They’re all different, you know? This IT Cosmetics one is definitely on the thicker side, so a little goes a long way. I dabbed a tiny bit on the back of my hand first, just to get a feel for the consistency. It’s creamy, but not runny.
Dealing with the Dark Circles
My main problem is dark circles. They’re always there, no matter how much sleep I get. So I dotted a bit of the concealer under my eyes, focusing on the darkest areas. I’ve heard that using a peachy color corrector first can help cancel out the blue tones, but I didn’t have one on hand, so I just went straight in with the concealer.
Next, I blended it out. I’ve tried using brushes and sponges, but honestly, I found that my ring finger worked best. I just gently patted the concealer into my skin, blending it outwards towards my cheekbones. The warmth of my finger seemed to help melt the product into my skin, which made it look more natural.
I added a little more where I needed it, just to make sure everything was covered. I found that it was best to build up the coverage slowly, rather than trying to apply too much at once.
After I was happy with the under-eye area, I moved on to other spots. I had a couple of blemishes that I wanted to cover, so I applied a tiny dot of concealer directly onto them and blended it out the same way. It did a pretty good job of hiding them, I must say.
Finally, I set everything with a bit of translucent powder. I dusted it lightly over the areas where I had applied concealer, just to make sure it stayed in place all day. And that was it!
I’m still learning, but I’m pretty happy with how this IT Cosmetics concealer turned out. It’s definitely a full-coverage product, so you have to be careful not to overdo it. But with a little practice, I think it’s a great option for hiding dark circles and other imperfections. The trick is really in the blending, using your fingers, building it up slowly. It’s not rocket science, but it does take a bit of getting used to. That’s just my experience, though. You might find different things work better for you. Just experiment and see what happens!
