Okay, so, the other day I was thinking, it’s been ages since the hubby and I had a proper getaway, just the two of us. You know, life gets crazy, work, kids… the usual. So, I started poking around online for some ideas. I typed in “luxury private romantic getaways near me,” and let me tell you, the options were overwhelming!
First, I scrolled through a bunch of listings, you know, the usual hotel booking sites, some fancy resorts, the works. I made a list of places that looked promising. They talked about all sorts of things, like “Explore Fun Things to Do” and “Review the Cleaning and Safety Practices.” Good to know, especially these days. I also saw offers like “Get the Most Out of Your Vacation with Packages.” Packages always sound good, right?
- I dug deeper into each place’s website.
- I checked out photos of the rooms, the views, all that jazz.
- I really wanted to find somewhere that felt secluded, hidden away, a real escape.
I stumbled upon this one place that described itself as a “hidden gem.” Intriguing, right? It mentioned “Our handpicked selection of hidden gems ensures an unforgettable experience.” I’m all about unforgettable experiences! They even listed a few locations, like Galway, Ireland. Ireland sounds magical, though maybe a bit far for a quick getaway.

Then I started thinking about what really makes a getaway romantic. Sure, a fancy hotel is nice, but it’s the little things, right? I remembered reading something like “And no matter where you’re going, a few romantic essentials like candles, chocolates.” Totally agree! Maybe a place with a fireplace, or a big tub? I could picture us, just relaxing, talking, no distractions.
Narrowing It Down
I saw mentions of everything from “ski resorts in Colorado” to “the wildlife-rich Galpagos Islands.” Wow, the possibilities! But, we were thinking more along the lines of something closer to home, maybe with “great weather, ample cultural offerings and small-town charm.” Somewhere we could just wander around, explore, eat good food, you know? I saw someone talking about “Winter Park” for that.
It really hit me when I read, “Booking the perfect romantic resort or retreat-like hotel can truly set the stage for a romantic…” That’s it, isn’t it? The place sets the mood. So, I filtered my search for places that emphasized words like “private,” “intimate,” “secluded.” Places that looked like they were designed for couples, not just another hotel room.
Finally, after a few hours of browsing, comparing, and daydreaming, I narrowed it down to three really amazing-looking places. I showed them to the hubby, and we talked about what we both wanted. We ended up booking a long weekend at a gorgeous little spot not too far from here, and let me tell you, we’re so excited! Stay tuned to hear about our lovely experience!
