So, I’ve been really into makeup lately, and one brand that caught my eye was Tarte Cosmetics. Their products look amazing, but I got curious about where they’re actually made. It’s something I’ve started to think more about – you know, where stuff comes from and all that.
First, I hit up Google. Just a simple search, really. I typed in “where is Tarte Cosmetics made” and scrolled through the results. I found out that Tarte is an American company, based in New York City. That’s cool, but it didn’t really tell me where the products are manufactured.
Next, I went straight to the source – the Tarte Cosmetics website. I figured they’d have the information somewhere. I read through their “About Us” section and some product descriptions. I learned that they ship all their orders from a warehouse in Indiana, USA. Still, no clear answer on the manufacturing part.

- Clicked around on some forums and beauty blogs.
- Found some people talking about it, but there were mixed answers.
- Some said they thought the products were made in the USA, while others guessed they might be made overseas.
I also dug a little deeper into the company’s history. Turns out, Tarte was founded by a woman named Maureen Kelly in 1999. She actually started with a cheek stain, and it was a hit! It even got featured on the cover of Self magazine. Apparently she has a Ph.D. in psychology, pretty interesting right? But where are they actually made?
Reached out directly
Finally, I decided to reach out to Tarte Cosmetics directly. I sent them an email through their “Contact Us” page. I basically asked them where their products are manufactured and explained that I’m trying to be more informed about the products I use. It may take sometime but they should give the answer.
This whole search made me realize how tricky it can be to find out where our products come from. It’s not always transparent, you know? But I think it’s worth the effort to learn more and make more conscious choices. Hopefully, Tarte Cosmetics will get back to me soon, and I can finally solve this little mystery!
