Okay, so, I’ve always been a bit self-conscious about singing in public, mostly ’cause my voice is kinda deep. Karaoke nights? Used to dread them. But, you know, I love music, and I really wanted to find a way to enjoy it without feeling like I was butchering every song. So, I started this little project to find the best karaoke songs for low voices like mine. Here’s what I did:
Step 1: Brainstorming and Gathering Intel
First, I hit up the internet, just to see what was already out there. I googled around, read some forum posts, and checked out a few blog articles. I jotted down a bunch of song suggestions that people said were good for lower voices. I wasn’t too picky at this stage; I just wanted a big list to start with.
Step 2: Testing Them Out
Then came the fun part – or at least it was supposed to be. I queued up these songs on my phone and just started singing along. I tried out classics like “At Last” by Etta James and also tried out “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. I even gave “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton a shot. Man, some of those were still a stretch! But I kept at it, singing in my living room, in the shower, in the car – basically anywhere I could without too much embarrassment.

Step 3: Karaoke Night Trial Run
After a few weeks, I felt brave enough to try a real karaoke night. I picked a local bar that had a decent song selection and invited a couple of friends for moral support. When my turn came, I chose “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. It’s a country classic, and I figured even if I messed up a little, people would still sing along. I also choose “Love Gets Me Every Time” by Shania Twain. It’s so popular.
Step 4: Reflecting and Refining
The night was a blast! I realized that it’s not just about finding songs within your range, but also about the vibe of the song and how it makes you feel. I was surprised by how well some songs worked even though I initially doubted them.
Step 5: Sharing My Findings
So, here I am, sharing my little journey with you all. I’ve compiled a list of songs that I think are real winners for us low-voiced folks. It’s a mix of genres, and I’ve even noted down a few tips for each song.
- “Jolene” by Dolly Parton: Such a fun song to sing, and the melody is pretty easy for low voices.
- “Love Gets Me Every Time” by Shania Twain: This song is so popular. I think everyone will sing with you when you sing it.
- “At Last” by Etta James: A beautiful classic that really showcases a deeper voice.
- “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor: This one is great for getting the crowd going, and it’s surprisingly comfortable to sing.
Honestly, it’s been a fun experiment. I’m no pro singer, but I’ve definitely become more comfortable with my voice. Karaoke is way more fun now, and I hope my little experiment helps some of you out there too!
