Okay, so I’ve been reading this book, “Swear on This Life” by Renee Carlino. It’s one of those books that just pulls you in, you know? I started it thinking it would be a light read, something to kill time with, but boy was I wrong.
I picked it up at the bookstore the other day. The cover looked interesting, and I’d heard a few good things about Renee Carlino’s other books, like “Sweet Thing” and “Nowhere But Here.” I flipped through the first few pages, and before I knew it, I was hooked. I ended up buying it and started reading it on the way home.
The story is about this writer, Emiline, and this guy, Jase. It’s got this cool “book within a book” thing going on, which I thought was pretty unique. Basically, Emiline starts reading this book, and it’s eerily similar to her own life. So, I’m reading about her reading, and it’s like two stories unfolding at once. It’s a real trip.

My reading process
- Started reading on a Sunday afternoon. I made myself a cup of coffee, got cozy on the couch, and just dove in.
- Got lost in the story. Seriously, I read for hours without realizing it. I ignored all my phone calls. The story was just that good.
- Felt all the feels. This book made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. I connected with the characters so much, it was like I was living their lives with them.
- Finished it in two days. I just couldn’t put it down. I stayed up late reading, and I woke up early to read some more before work.
By the end of it, I felt like I’d been on a roller coaster. It’s one of those stories that sticks with you. I found myself thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading. I even tried to look up other books by this author to read them, and I found “Before We Were Strangers” is also hers, so I decided to put it on my reading list.
If you’re into romance novels or just looking for a good book to get lost in, I’d definitely recommend checking out “Swear on This Life.” It’s a bit of an emotional ride, but totally worth it. I heard some people compare this book to Chetan Bhagat’s works, you know, those bestsellers like “Five Point Someone”. I haven’t read them yet, but now I’m curious.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with this book. Has anyone else read it? What did you think?
