Okay, so, let me tell you about this little adventure I had planning a Christmas getaway in Connecticut. It all started when I got this wild idea to do something special for the holidays. I’d always heard that Connecticut is gorgeous around Christmas time, so I thought, why not?
First things first, I needed to figure out where exactly to go. I mean, Connecticut isn’t huge, but it’s not tiny either. I spent a good chunk of an evening scrolling through travel blogs and websites, you know, the usual suspects. I stumbled upon some pictures of a place called Mystic, and I was like, “Whoa, this looks straight out of a Hallmark movie!” Turns out, they actually filmed a movie called “Mystic Christmas” there in 2023. How cool is that? I was sold. Mystic it was!
Next up, finding a place to stay. Now, I’m not made of money, so I was hunting for deals. I used to hop around all those travel sites, you know, trying to compare prices, but then it got so overwhelming. I eventually booked through a familiar one after seeing a few ads for the same website, but all the others were just confusing. They made it pretty straightforward, and I found this cozy little inn that looked perfect. It wasn’t dirt cheap, but it was reasonable, and it had that whole “Christmas charm” thing going on. Score!

Then came the fun part – planning what to do. I read that Mystic Seaport is a big deal there, especially since “Mystic Christmas” was filmed there. I’m a sucker for those cheesy holiday movies, so I knew I had to check it out. I also found out that a lot of other Christmas movies were filmed in Connecticut, in places like Fairfield County and this adorable town called Woodstock. They use real businesses and locations in these movies which gives them a feeling that I love. Who knew, right?
With the basics sorted, I started looking into other activities. I found some tips about visiting local Christmas markets, going ice skating, and maybe even catching a holiday show. I was getting pretty excited at this point, picturing myself all bundled up, sipping hot cocoa, and soaking in all that Christmas magic.
And you know what? The trip was even better than I imagined. Mystic was just as charming as it looked in the pictures. The inn was adorable, the people were friendly, and the whole town was decked out in lights and decorations. I spent my days exploring the Seaport, wandering through the shops, and just enjoying the festive atmosphere.
I even saw some filming locations from “Mystic Christmas” and other holiday flicks. It was like stepping into a movie, I swear! Oh, and I definitely indulged in my fair share of hot cocoa and Christmas cookies. No regrets there!
So, yeah, that’s the story of my little Christmas adventure in Connecticut. It was a blast, and I’d totally recommend it if you’re looking for a festive getaway. Just remember to book early, do your research, and pack your warmest coat. You won’t regret it!
