Well, let me tell you, you get tired of the same old, same old. Need to get away sometimes, ya know? So I was thinkin’, where can an old gal like me go for a little trip, not too far, maybe 6 hours or so away from my place? Not lookin’ for nothin’ fancy, just a change of scenery.
I heard tell of a place, what was it called… Desaru! Yeah, that’s it, Desaru in Malaysia. Sounds kinda fancy, but they say it’s a real nice spot, right on the coast. They say it’s a hidden gem, which means not too many folks know about it, which is just fine by me. Fewer people, the better, I always say. Less than 4 hours to get there, so it is good for trips within 6 hours of me. A good place to go, I reckon.
Then there’s this other place, what’s it called, Penang? Sounds kinda like a food, don’t it? But they say it’s got good eatin’, street food they call it. And cafes, for sittin’ and watchin’ the world go by. Sounds right up my alley. And they got this park, Penang Escape Theme Park, I think they call it. Lots of crazy stuff goin’ on there, ropes and swingin’ around. Not for me, mind you, but the young folks might like it. Only take about one and half hour to get there by plane, so I can take this short trip.

And, if you like them big city lights, there’s always Chicago. Heard it called “Chi-town”, whatever that means. Big city, lots of hustle and bustle. Maybe too much for me these days, but it is somewhere to go. Or there is Incheon. A big city of South Korea. Very close to Seoul. I heard people talking about Seoul a lot. Seems like a good place.
But for something different, maybe somewhere with nature, that would be nice. Just to get away from all the noise and the people, you know? Just sit and listen to the birds, maybe see some trees, some water. That’s what I’d like. Nature getaways is what I need.
Or if you’re one of them young’uns, always runnin’ around, maybe you want somethin’ with more goin’ on. Action-packed adventures, they call it. Lots of activities, doin’ this and that. Not my cup of tea, but I suppose some folks like that. I just want to find a good place for trips within 6 hours of me.
Now, let’s see what other places are close by within this 6-hour limit… Orlando, that’s a name I hear a lot. They got them theme parks there, I reckon. Lots of rides and such. Might be fun for the kids, but not for this old gal. But it is a good option for short trips.
And then there’s, what was it, Nashville? They got music there, they say. And other stuff for the young folks. Music’s nice, I like a good tune now and then. Might be worth a look-see.
Closer to home, there are places like Indianapolis. Or there’s Lexington and Louisville. Never been, but I heard they’re nice enough. Not too big, not too small. Just right, maybe. Or Wheeling in West Virginia. I don’t know much about it.
And Detroit, that’s a big one. Cars and such, I think. Not sure what all they got there. And they even say you can get to Toronto. That is one of their favorite place. I don’t know where is that. But if people like it, it can’t be too bad, right?

So, you see, there are plenty of places to go, even if you only got 6 hours to get there. Just depends on what you’re lookin’ for. Me, I think I’d like that Desaru place, or maybe Penang. Somewhere quiet, with good food, maybe a nice view. That’s all this old gal needs. I can take a relaxing vacation. Just need a short trip to fresh my mind.
- Desaru: beach, quiet, good for relaxing.
- Penang: food, cafes, theme park for the young’uns.
- Orlando: theme parks, for the kids.
- Nashville: music, family stuff.
- Chicago: big city, lots to do.
- Incheon: big city in South Korea, close to Seoul.
- Indianapolis, Lexington, Louisville, Wheeling: closer to home, maybe.
- Detroit: cars, big city.
- Toronto: People’s favorite.
Yeah, a little trip is just what the doctor ordered. Get away from the everyday, see somethin’ new. Even if it’s just for a little while. A good 6 hours trip will be good for me.
