Well, let me tell you somethin’. This here thing, Virgin River, it’s a show, you see? Like them stories on the TV, but this one, you gotta have that, uh, Netflix thing to watch it. Now, I hear folks askin’, “Is Virgin River on DVD?” I gotta say, I don’t rightly know about all this newfangled technology. I ain’t got no fancy Netflix thing.
But I heard from my neighbor, she’s got that Netflix. She said that’s the only way you can see this Virgin River. It is all about this nurse, name of Mel, I think. She done moved to some little town called Virgin River. She is a nurse lady, you know. And she went to that town to start over, like a fresh start. She’s a widow, poor thing. Lost her husband. So she goes up there, to that Virgin River place, lookin’ for somethin’ new, I reckon. Tryin’ to get a new job.
Now, they say this Virgin River, it’s way out in the woods. In California. Lots of trees, they say. Redwood trees. Big ones! This Mel, she meets the mayor of this little Virgin River town. Her name is Hope. Sounds like a nice lady. Hope McCrea, that’s her full name. I reckon she helps Mel get settled and all.

- This Mel, she’s a nurse practitioner, whatever that is.
- She answers some ad in the paper to work in Virgin River.
- She goes there to start over, poor thing.
I don’t rightly know all the details, but I reckon there’s some romance and some troubles, just like any other place, I guess. Some drama, they call it. That’s what that young fella said, anyways. He was talkin’ ’bout how they changed the story from them books. Seems there are books about Virgin River, too. They had to change it up, add some drama. More excitement, you know. More characters, too, to fill up that little town.
Now, this here Virgin River, it has a lot of seasons, I heard. Like them soap operas, goes on and on. Season 1, Season 3, now they even talkin’ ’bout a Season 6! This Mel, she must have a lot goin’ on in that little Virgin River town. This show stars some folks named Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge. They must be the big shots in this Virgin River show. I don’t know ’em, but they sound important.
But to answer that question, “Is Virgin River on DVD?” I think they don’t have it. Not anymore, anyways. Some folks like them DVD things. They say it’s the only way to really own your shows. You can watch ’em whenever you want, anywhere, they say. Don’t need no internet or that Netflix. You can just pop it in that player and watch it. DVD is a good thing, I think.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this other thing called Vudu. Sounds like voodoo to me! But it ain’t. It’s another one of them online things. You can watch Virgin River on Vudu, they say. But you gotta sign in and make an account and all that. Search for it, they say. Sounds like a whole rigmarole to me.
- You can’t just buy the DVD, not easy, anyways.
- Gotta have Netflix to watch Virgin River.
- Or maybe that Vudu thing.
- They say the only way to truly own your show is on DVD.
I still like my old TV. Don’t need no fancy things. But these young folks, they like all this new stuff. Netflix, Vudu, all them things. They watch it all on their phones and computers. Me? I just like to sit and watch my stories on the TV. Don’t need nothin’ else. If they don’t put Virgin River on a DVD that I can just buy, I guess I won’t be watchin’ it.
But if you got that Netflix, you’re good to go, I guess. That’s what they tell me, anyways. This Virgin River, it’s a Netflix original, they say. Whatever that means. But I tell you, it would be nice to have that show on a DVD. Just in case, you know? You never know when that internet might go out or that Netflix might not work. You always have the DVD, ain’t that right?
