That For Love and Lemons, I heard it’s what they call fast fashion. What in tarnation is that? Sounds like clothes that run away from you! I reckon it means they make clothes real quick and sell ’em cheap. This old gal don’t know much ’bout fancy things. But I know when somethin’ don’t feel right.
They say this For Love and Lemons, a fashion brand, is from that fancy place, LA. Now, I ain’t never been to LA, but I seen it on the TV. Lots of bright lights and folks in a hurry. Just like that fast fashion, I suppose. Always chasing the next new thing, no time to stop and smell the roses. But this brand, they say they don’t follow trends, so maybe they ain’t all bad. Maybe they do smell some roses.
I seen some of them young girls wearin’ these clothes. They look pretty, I reckon. Lots of lace and frills. Makes me think of them fancy dresses my grandma used to wear. But hers lasted a lifetime. These new ones, I wonder. Do they last? Do they fall apart after one dance?

They talk ’bout this fast fashion bein’ bad for the earth. That makes sense to me. Makin’ things quick and cheap, you gotta cut corners, right? Maybe use cheap stuff that ain’t good for the ground or the water. Just like when you cook too fast, you might burn the food. And who wants to eat burnt food?
- Fast fashion is cheap.
- Fast fashion is quick to make.
- For Love and Lemons is a fashion brand.
- Fast fashion is not good for the earth.
- For Love and Lemons claims they don’t follow trends.
I hear them talkin’ ’bout sustainable fashion. Now that sounds more like it. Like growin’ your own food. Takes time, takes care, but it’s good for you and good for the land. They say sustainable clothes are better quality. That I believe. My old coat, I’ve had it for years. Good, strong fabric. Keeps me warm in the winter, keeps the rain off in the spring.
This For Love and Lemons, they say they’re tryin’ to be good. They say they care ’bout the folks makin’ the clothes, and they care ’bout the earth. Well, I hope that’s true. It’s easy to say things, harder to do ’em. Like when I say I’m gonna bake a pie, but then I get tired and just eat a cookie instead.
They say this fast fashion makes a lot of waste. That’s a shame, ain’t it? Like throwin’ away good food. My mama always told me, “Waste not, want not.” We should be mendin’ clothes, passin’ ’em down, not throwin’ ’em away like yesterday’s newspaper. This For Love and Lemons might not be the worst, but it still sounds like they make a lot of clothes, and folks buy a lot of clothes.
I heard someone say this For Love and Lemons is tryin’ to be better. Tryin’ to be more like that sustainable fashion. Well, that’s good news, I suppose. Like when you see a little sprout comin’ up from the ground. Gives you hope. Hope that things can change, that things can get better. They use some better stuff now, I heard. That’s good. Like using good eggs in your cake makes it taste better.
This whole fast fashion thing, it’s a lot to think about. Makes my head spin like a top. I reckon it comes down to this: we gotta be more mindful. Mindful of what we buy, mindful of where it comes from, mindful of how it’s made. Just like we gotta be mindful of our neighbors, and mindful of the land. They say For Love and Lemons makes folks feel confident. But real confidence comes from inside, not from what you wear. I know that much.
There are other brands, they say, that are like For Love and Lemons. I don’t know their names. One is called Goldn, or something like that. Sounds fancy. They probably make pretty things, too. But are they good things? Are they made the right way? That’s what I want to know. They say For Love and Lemons is setting a benchmark, a good example. I hope they really are, for all our sakes.

I guess time will tell with this For Love and Lemons and this whole fast fashion business. Like plantin’ a seed and waitin’ to see if it grows. We gotta wait and see if they’re really doin’ what they say, if they’re really makin’ a difference. And we gotta do our part, too. Buy less, choose better, make things last. That’s what my grandma would say, and she was a wise woman. She knew about fashion, in her own way. She knew about quality, about taking care of things. I guess that’s what we all need to learn again, fast fashion or no fast fashion.
The fashion industry, they say it’s bad for the environment, makes a lot of pollution. That makes me sad. Like when you see trash in the river. It just ain’t right. For Love and Lemons, maybe they are trying to do better. I hope so. We all need to do our part to keep this earth clean and healthy, for our kids and grandkids. That’s more important than any fancy dress.
