Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Benefit makeup stuff and them animals.
Does Benefit Cosmetics Test on Animals? That’s what folks are askin’, right? I heard tell they don’t go around pokin’ and proddin’ no poor critters. Not since way back in 1989, they say. That’s a long time ago, even before them fancy folks in Europe made it a rule in 2013.
- They say they part of some big company, LVMH or somethin’. Fancy name, huh?
- And that whole bunch quit testin’ on animals a long, long time ago.
Now, I ain’t no scientist or nothin’, but I heard tellin’ that testin’ on animals ain’t right. Them little creatures, they ain’t got no say in it. And it ain’t even that good of a way to see if the stuff works. Heard tell it’s only right about half the time. That ain’t much better than guessin’, if you ask me. These days, they got other ways, ways that don’t hurt nobody and work better too. Sounds like a whole lot more sense to me.

But here’s the thing, see. They sell this Benefit stuff over in China. And them folks over there, they got some funny rules. They say some things gotta be tested on animals before they let you sell ’em. So, Benefit, they say they don’t do the testin’ themselves, but if they wanna sell over there, somebody’s gotta do it. That’s why them folks who give out the “cruelty-free” stickers, they won’t give one to Benefit. Kinda makes you scratch your head, don’t it?
Why Animal Testing is Bad, they asked me to talk about. Well, it’s just plain mean, that’s what it is. Thinkin’ about them poor little bunnies and mice, gettin’ stuff rubbed in their eyes or on their skin. It ain’t right. And like I said, it ain’t even a good way to do things. Cost a bunch of money, and don’t even work that well. Heard tell there’s ways to test stuff on, like, fake skin or somethin’. Makes a whole lot more sense, if you ask me. Why hurt somethin’ when you don’t have to?
Now, some folks might say, “Well, it’s just animals.” But I say, everything God made deserves a little respect. And besides, if they can make good makeup without hurtin’ animals, why wouldn’t they? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
I also heard some folks complainin’ about the way Benefit ships their stuff. Sayin’ they use too much plastic and don’t care about the earth. And they ain’t sayin’ much about bein’ “sustainable,” whatever that means. Sounds like they could do a bit better in that department, if you ask me. Gotta take care of the whole world, not just the animals, right?
So, back to the question: does Benefit test on animals? They say no, they don’t. But then they go sellin’ in places where somebody else does the testin’ for ’em. Kinda makes you wonder, don’t it? I ain’t sayin’ they’re bad folks, but it seems like they could be a bit more clear about things. And maybe, just maybe, they could find a way to sell their stuff without anybody havin’ to hurt no animals. That’d be the right thing to do, that’s for sure.
Benefit’s Animal Testing Policy is supposed to be clear. No testing since 1989. But like I said, this China thing makes it all muddy. And if they ain’t usin’ a bunch of nasty chemicals, like that Benefect stuff I heard about, then why they gotta test on animals at all? That Benefect stuff, they say it’s so safe you don’t even need no warnings on the bottle. And you don’t gotta wear no special gloves or nothin’ to use it. If they can make that stuff safe, why not makeup?
So, there you have it. My two cents on this whole Benefit and animals thing. Take it for what it’s worth. I’m just an old woman, but I know right from wrong. And hurtin’ animals just ain’t right, no matter how you slice it.

Cruelty-Free Makeup is what folks want these days. And companies like Benefit, they gotta listen. They can’t just say one thing and do another. Gotta be straight with folks. And if they wanna sell their stuff to folks who care about animals, they gotta figure out a way to do it right. That’s all there is to it.
