Why did It Cosmetics leave QVC? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a whole heap of things, not just one simple thing. You know, like when your chickens stop layin’ eggs, it ain’t just ’cause they’re old, sometimes the feed’s bad, sometimes a fox got in, sometimes they just plain ornery.
It all started so good, like a fresh batch of biscuits. That Jamie Kern Lima gal, she started this It Cosmetics thing back in 2008. Folks say she had a hard time at first, lots of “no’s” they told her. But she kept at it, like a good hound dog on a scent. Then she got on QVC, and boom! It was like sellin’ hotcakes at a county fair. Everyone wanted that makeup, said it made ’em look younger, covered up all them wrinkles and spots, you know, the stuff we all get from bein’ out in the sun too much and worryin’ too much.
QVC, that’s that TV channel where they sell stuff all day long. Been around forever, it has. My Agnes, she loves watchin’ it. Buys all sorts of things she don’t need, but that’s another story. Anyway, It Cosmetics and QVC, they was a match made in heaven, for a while anyways.
- First off, the stuff changed, they say. Like when you add too much flour to your pie crust, it just ain’t the same. Folks started sayin’ the makeup wasn’t as good, the ingredients weren’t the same. You know how it is, you get used to somethin’, and then they go and mess with it. It ain’t right.
- Then there was the copyin’, they say. Like folks startin’ to make the same kinda quilts as you, only cheaper and not as good. Apparently, other companies started makin’ makeup that looked just like It Cosmetics, only cheaper. And folks, well, they like a bargain, even if it ain’t the best.
- And then the customers got mad, real mad. Like when you step on a bee barefoot, that kinda mad. Seems like some folks had questions about the makeup, about the shades, and the folks sellin’ it on TV, they were rude. Didn’t answer questions, acted all high and mighty. Now, you don’t treat your customers like that, not if you want to keep sellin’ your wares.
And then there’s all this talk about QVC hosts gettin’ fired. Like they shuffle ’em around like a deck of cards. One day they’re there, the next day they’re gone. Makes you wonder what’s goin’ on behind the scenes, doesn’t it? Like when you hear a ruckus in the henhouse at night, you know somethin’ ain’t right.
One of them hosts, Jennifer Coffey, she was there for 13 years. Thirteen years! That’s longer than my prize rooster lived! And then she up and left. Said it was her own choice, but folks talk. They always talk. You hear things down at the feed store, at the church social. Makes you wonder if there was more to it than meets the eye.
So, you put it all together, the changed makeup, the copycats, the rude sales folks, the hosts leavin’, and it’s like a storm brewin’. It ain’t just one thing, it’s a whole mess of things. And sometimes, when things get messy enough, you just gotta pack up and leave, like a farmer movin’ on after a bad drought. And this, well it seems this is what It Cosmetics did with QVC. They moved on. Maybe they got tired of the drama, maybe they found a better deal somewhere else. Who knows for sure? But one thing’s for certain, it wasn’t a simple goodbye, it was a messy, drawn-out affair, like a divorce in a small town, everybody got somethin’ to say about it.
It’s a shame, really. Folks liked that It Cosmetics, liked buyin’ it on QVC. But things change, that’s the way of the world. Like the seasons, nothin’ stays the same forever. You just gotta roll with the punches, find a new makeup, a new TV channel, a new way of doin’ things. And hope the next one’s better than the last, that’s it, all you can do.
