Alright, let’s talk about this Nordstrom, you know, the store where they sell all them fancy clothes. Folks keep askin’ me, is it “fast fashion”? Now, I ain’t no fancy city gal, but I can tell ya what I see.
First off, what is this “fast fashion” anyhow? Sounds like somethin’ you’d do if you were in a hurry, like eatin’ a sandwich while runnin’ to catch the bus. But from what I hear, it means cheap clothes, made quick, and then thrown away quick too. Like them paper plates you use at a picnic – use ’em once and then toss ’em.
Nordstrom, now, they sell some real nice stuff, the kind you’d wear to church or a weddin’. But they also got plenty of them trendy things, the ones the young folks like. You know, the shirts with the sparkly stuff and the pants that are tighter than a tick on a dog. And they got new stuff comin’ in all the time, seems like every week there’s somethin’ different in the windows.

- They got all sorts of clothes, from fancy dresses to everyday jeans.
- They always got new stuff comin’ in, so you can always find somethin’ new to wear.
- The prices, well, some things are high, like them fancy dresses. But then you got other things that are cheaper, like them t-shirts.
So, is it fast fashion? Well, it kinda depends on what you’re lookin’ at. Them fancy dresses, the ones that cost a whole week’s pay, those ain’t fast fashion. You keep them dresses, you wear ’em to special occasions, maybe even pass ’em down to your daughter. But then you got them trendy things, the ones that are cheap and go out of style quick. Those, well, those might be fast fashion.
I heard tell they got this thing called “Trunk Club” where someone picks out clothes for you. Sounds like a waste of money to me, I can pick out my own clothes, thank you very much. But I guess some folks got more money than sense.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ Nordstrom is all bad. They got some good quality stuff, and they treat their customers right, from what I hear. But they also got a lot of them cheap, trendy clothes, and that’s where it gets tricky. See, them cheap clothes, they don’t last long. You wear ’em a few times, they start to fall apart, and then you throw ’em away. And that’s the problem with fast fashion, all that waste.
I read somewhere, or maybe someone told me, that all them old clothes end up in a big pile somewhere, stinkin’ up the place and makin’ the earth sick. That ain’t right. We gotta be more careful with what we buy and how long we keep it. Back in my day, we mended our clothes, we didn’t just throw ’em away. A button fall off? Sew it back on. A tear in the knee? Patch it up. We made things last.
So, is Nordstrom fast fashion? I reckon it’s a bit of both. They got the good stuff and the not-so-good stuff. It’s up to you to decide what you’re gonna buy and how long you’re gonna keep it. Just remember, them cheap clothes might look good for a little while, but they ain’t worth much in the long run. Better to spend a little more on somethin’ that’ll last, somethin’ you can wear for years to come.
And another thing, all that new stuff comin’ in all the time, it makes you want to buy more, even if you don’t need it. It’s like they’re temptin’ you, “Ooh, look at this pretty new shirt, you gotta have it!” But you don’t gotta have it. You got plenty of clothes in your closet, I bet. Think before you buy, that’s what I always say. Don’t just buy somethin’ because it’s new and shiny. Buy it because you need it and you’re gonna wear it for a long time.
So there you have it, my two cents on Nordstrom and this fast fashion business. Take it or leave it, I don’t care. Just try to be a little more mindful about what you buy and where it comes from, that’s all I’m sayin’. The earth will thank you for it.
