Well now, let’s talk about them Easter bible movies. You know, the ones they show on TV around Easter time. Some of ‘em are good, some of ‘em… well, let’s just say they could use a little work. But hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
First off, there’s that one about Jesus, you know, Passion of the Christ. Folks say it’s real close to what the Bible says. Boy, that one’s a tough watch though. They show everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. That poor fella, Jesus, he sure went through a lot. It shows him all beat up and cryin’ in the garden. And that cross… Lord have mercy! It shows all the nail hammerin’ and everything. Makes you think, you know? Makes you appreciate what He did for us. But I ain’t gonna lie, it’s a bit much for some folks, especially the little ones.
Then you got all sorts of other movies, some new, some old. They got this thing called Netflix now, and they say you can watch all sorts of movies on there. They got cute ones for the kids, with ducks and bunnies and such. And then they got some for us grown-ups, about faith and all that. There’s one called I Can Only Imagine, and another one called The Wait. Heard they’re pretty good, but I ain’t seen ’em myself yet. They say there’s even some movies the whole family can watch together, like A Week Away. That’s always nice, ain’t it? Getting the whole family together to watch somethin’ good.

- Movies for the kids: Lots of cartoons and happy stories. Good for keeping them entertained while you’re tryin’ to cook Easter dinner.
- Movies for grown-ups: More serious stuff, about faith and life. Makes you think and maybe even shed a tear or two.
- Movies for the whole family: Something everyone can enjoy, from the young’uns to the old-timers.
Now, where do you find all this Easter story stuff in the Bible? Well, they tell me it’s in a few different places. There’s Matthew, and John, and Luke. I ain’t much of a reader myself, but my grandbaby, she reads to me sometimes. Those books tell you all about Jesus and what happened to him around Easter time. They tell about the last supper, and the betrayal, and the crucifixion, and, most importantly, the resurrection. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? He rose again, just like He said He would.
Oh, and I almost forgot! There’s this old movie, or maybe it was a TV show, called Jesus of Nazareth. That one’s been around for a long time. It starts way before Easter, when Jesus was just a baby, and it goes all the way to the crucifixion and when he came back. It’s a long one, but it tells the whole story pretty good. Folks seem to like that one a lot. They say it’s a classic.
So, you see, there’s all sorts of Easter bible movies out there. Some are real close to the Bible, some take a little more… liberty, I guess you could say. But they all try to tell the same story, the story of Jesus and what He did for us. And that’s what Easter’s all about, ain’t it? It ain’t just about the bunnies and the eggs and the candy. It’s about rememberin’ Jesus and what He did for all of us. It’s a time for bein’ thankful and spendin’ time with your loved ones. So go on, find yourself an Easter movie, gather your family around, and remember the reason for the season.
And one last thing, don’t forget to go to church! That’s the most important part of Easter, even more than the movies. It’s a time to celebrate and give thanks for all the good things in our lives. And that’s all I got to say about that.
